SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Seton Hall women's basketball head coach Anthony Bozzella has announced a series of changes to his coaching staff for the upcoming 2017-18 season. Most notably, Nick DiPillo has been elevated to Assistant Coach and Shaaliyah Lyons has been added to the staff as the Director of Basketball Operations. In addition, Jose Rebimbas will shift into the role of Director of Player Development, previously held by DiPillo.
"I am extremely excited to elevate Nick to an on-court assistant coach. He has been a tremendous asset to the coaching staff in his first three years on the staff and his basketball knowledge is second to none. He will do great work with our post players and in the implementation of our offense," Bozzella said.
DiPillo has served as the Director of Player Development at The Hall since the 2014-15 season. During his time on the staff, the Pirates have amassed a 63-34 record and reached the NCAA Tournament twice. Prior to joining The Hall, DiPillo spent four years on the sidelines as an assistant coach with the WNBA's New York Liberty from 2005-09. He was a member of the men's basketball team at Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating in 2003 with a degree in sociology.
Rebimbas, a member of the Seton Hall men's basketball 1989 Final Four Team and long-time head coach for the William Patterson University men's program, was added to Bozzella's staff in July. In his new role, he will add scouting and film breakdown responsibilities as well as provide insight regarding player progression and improvement, game preparation, and overall strategy.
Lyons joins Bozzella's staff after spending the last four years as a women's basketball team manager at Seton Hall, including a stint as head manager during her senior year. Lyons is also a former intern for the Unity Sports Group in Summit, N.J. where she handled the communications and marketing aspect of the summer camps and adult summer league. At the Future Project Newark, she developed and coordinated sports related programs with high school students. In addition, Lyons is the founder of the Together We Conquer Life Skills Basketball Camp. She earned her B.S. in Sport Management with a Certificate in Entrepreneurial Studies and a Minor in Africana Studies from Seton Hall in May of 2017.
"Shaaliyah is one of the hardest-working young women I have ever had the pleasure of being around. Her dedication to our program during her time as an undergrad was second to none and I couldn't be more thrilled to keep her as part of our family. She has an extremely positive outlook that is infectious to those around her."
In her role with the Pirates, Lyons will assist in travel and meal arrangements as well as opponent practice scheduling and film exchange.
The Hall kicks off the regular season on Friday, Nov. 10 against Saint Peter's at 1 p.m.
