
Pirates Place Fourth at Patriot Invite

Fairfax, Va. – The Seton Hall men's swimming & diving team finished fourth out of eight competing institutions at the Patriot Invitational hosted by George Mason this weekend.
In the first men's event of the meet, senior Noah Yanchulis (Arnold, Md.), sophomores Tyler Kauth (Wall, N.J.) and John Redoutey (Costa Mesa, Calif.), and junior Dakota Williams (Noank, Conn.) finished second out of 14 teams in the 200 free relay with an impressive time of 1:22.44.
The 200 free quartet beat the team's previous season-best time by over two full seconds, and their time of 1:22.44 is among the top-50 in the event in all of college swimming this season.
The Pirates scored big points in the 200 IM when Yanchulis, junior Lior Grubert (Yehud-Monosson, Israel) and senior Vadim Jacobson (Arnold, Md.) finished two-four-eight with times of 1:51.33, 1:52.41 and 1:53.21.
Notably, Drexel's Jason Arthur won the 200 IM with a time of 1:49.09, besting Grubert's Patriot Invitational record swim of 1:49.33 that he had held since Nov. 19, 2015.
Grubert won the 400 IM with a BIG EAST-best time of 3:59.73, and was part of the winning 800 free relay (6:41.13) alongside Yanchulis, Kauth and Jacobson.
The 400 medley relay squad comprised of Kauth, sophomore Joshua Tosoni (Arnold, Md.), freshman Liam Cosgrove (Sea Girt, N.J.) and Williams finished runner-up in the 400 medley relay after completing the race in 3:21.02.
Cosgrove also placed third in the 100 back after touching the wall in a personal-best 51.09.
Williams tied for second in the 50 free, touching the wall in a season-best 20.74, the top time in the BIG EAST.
In the 400 free relay, Yanchulis, Jacobson, Kauth and Williams took first after finishing in 3:01.26.
Looking ahead, the Pirates head into their mid-season break, and will resume competition on Jan. 13 against Drexel and Towson in Philadelphia.
