
Pirates Welcome Marist On Thursday Night

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- Fresh off a Thanksgiving Classic title run, the Seton Hall women's basketball team (4-1) continues a season-long five-game homestand on Thursday night when it welcomes Marist (1-5) to Walsh Gymnasium. The contest will tip off at 7 p.m. and air on the Pirate Sports Network with Sean Saint Jacques and Sky Lindsay on the call.Â
The Hall went 2-0 last weekend, picking up victories over Rider and Jacksonville State to win the SHU Thanksgiving Classic for the 18th time in 26 tournaments. Marist is coming off a tough trip to Hawai'i that saw the Red Foxes fall at Hawai'i and to top competition in Purdue and USC.Â

- Thursday marks the ninth meeting between the Pirates and Red Foxes, and sixth at Walsh Gym
- The Hall is 7-1 all-time against Marist and 5-0 in home games
- The two sides met seven times from 1980-94 before rekindling the series last season, when The Hall came away with a 76-63 victory on 11/15/16
- In that game, The Pirates trailed by 15 points at the half, but exploded for a 31-8 edge in the third quarter in an eventual double-digit victory
- JaQuan Jackson led The Hall with 18 points in the win, while Kaela Hilaire added 16 with six steals and four assists
- The win against Marist was Bozzella's first against the Red Foxes - in 11 seasons at Iona, the Pirate head coach was 0-27 against the MAAC power, including three conference title game setbacks

- The Hall won its home tournament last weekend, going 2-0 at the SHU Thanksgiving Classic to claim the title for the 18th time in 26 tournaments
- The Pirates picked up an 85-49 victory over Rider in semifinal action before defeating Jacksonville State by a score of 73-54 in the championship game
- JaQuan Jackson was named Thanskgiving Classic MVP after averaging 18.5 points over the two contests and going 8-of-16 from 3-point range
- Joining Jackson on the All-Tournament team for their performances over the weekend were Kaela Hilaire (14 assists in two games) and Taylor Brown (14.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg in the Classic)
- Against Rider on Nov. 25, The Hall led by double-digits throughout and got a game-high 20 points from Donnaizha Fountain in only 19 minutes
- In the title game on Nov. 26, Brown led the way with 19 points along with eight rebounds, three steals and three block
- Shadeen Samuels also had a career day against JSU, going for 18 points to match a personal best along with 11 rebounds for her first double-double
