Jackson Scores 23, Pirates Fall At Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team (11-17, 4-13 BIG EAST) dropped a 74-57 decision at Providence (11-16, 3-13 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Hall. JaQuan Jackson (Killeen, Texas) led the Pirates with a game-high 23 points in the setback.
The Hall led by seven after a quarter, but the Friars pulled ahead by four at the break and used big runs in the third and fourth quarters to swell their advantage. Behind Jackson, Lubirdia Gordon (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) and LaTecia Smith (Gardena, Calif.) each added eight points while Gordon snared 10 rebounds. For PC, Yoyo Nogic led four in double-figures with 19 points.
Turning Points
After a tight start, Providence pulled ahead by four at the half with a banked-home 3-point heave as time expired in the second quarter for its largest lead of the contest. Midway through the third quarter, a 10-0 run for the Friars stretched a two-point lead to 12 at 50-38 before Kaity Healy (Freehold, N.J.) snapped the run with a 3-pointer.
Healy's triple sparked a 7-2 run to end the third that saw the Pirates slim the margin to 52-45 heading to the fourth quarter. Early in the final frame, the Friars reeled off a 13-0 run to balloon their advantage to 65-47 and force a Seton Hall timeout. After their big run, PC maintained a doube-digit lead the rest of the way.

- Providence shot 45.0 percent from the floor and 61.1 percent from 3-point range while holding The Hall to 35.3 and 28.6 percent marks
- The Friars held a slight 39-36 edge on the glass, with each side grabbing 10 offensive rebounds
- The Hall finished with a 22-12 edge in the paint and a 12-8 advantage in second chance points
