9/30/2017 4:48:00 PM | Men's Soccer
The Hall got on the board early, taking advantage of a red card on the Creighton keeper with a penalty kick conversion from Arcila in the ninth minute. Playing a man up for the final 80-plus minutes of regulation, the Pirates controlled possession through most of the match in an eventual shutout win. Peyton Elder (Cary, N.C.) made three saves in his first start of the season to pick up the clean sheet.
Turning Point
With the Pirates looking for insurance early in the second half, they were able to double their lead with a thunderous strike from Alderete in the 52nd minute. Gabriel Viola (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) started the scoring play by keeping a loose ball alive in the attacking third and flicking a pass to Alderete wide of goal. The junior gathered and unloaded a rocketed shot from 25 yards out, sailing past the CU keeper and into the top left corner of the cage to make it 2-0.
