Three Score As The Hall Blanks Sacred Heart

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Three different Pirates scored as the Seton Hall men's soccer team (1-2-1) knocked off Sacred Heart (0-4-0) by a score of 3-0 on Monday night at Owen T. Carroll Field. The big offensive night backed a four-save shutout for Elliot Munford (Auckland, New Zealand) as the freshman earned his first career victory.
In the first all-time SHU vs. SHU meeting between The Hall and the Pioneers, Jonathan Jimenez (Cape Coral, Fla.), Mario Prata (Dracut, Mass.) and Gabriel Viola (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) all found the back of the net for the first time in 2017. The trio each recorded an assist as well to give The Hall three players with three points in the solid all-around performance.
Turning Point
Up 1-0 late in the first half, a beautiful combination play allowed the Pirates to double their lead in the 39th minute. Viola started the action with a pass ahead to Marco Neves (Tracy, Calif.), who wheeled and sent it back to Prata. With a one-touch through-ball, Prata freed Viola streaking into the box for a hard blast that deflected off a Pioneer defender and past the keeper that gave the Pirates a commanding 2-0 lead at the break.
