SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Head coach Anthony Bozzella and Seton Hall women's basketball have announced the signing of five incoming freshman for the 2019-20 season during the early signing period, the program announced on Tuesday (Nov. 20).
Joining The Hall next season will be:
"First off, I want to give my staff a lot of credit for putting a class this impressive together," Bozzella said. "We're making a commitment to our style of play, which is an up-tempo, fast-paced ball-sharing offense and aggressive defense. These five additions all bring the attributes we will need to build on our style and continue to cultivate its success. They are also all wonderful young women who will thrive in the classroom as well as on the court."
Harris is a local product from Ossining High School, where she was teammates with current Pirate star Shadeen Samuels. At Ossining she has won three-straight Class AA state titles, continuing a run of seven-straight that included Samuels' four years. Harris is a three-time NYSWAA All-State selection, earning Third Team honors as a sophomore, Fifth Team as a junior and Seventh Team as a freshman. Prior to her junior season, she was named to the LoHud "Super 7" after averaging 16.9 points and 11.2 rebounds per game as a sophomore. She followed that up with 21.0 points and 10.3 rebounds per game as a junior, eclipsing the 1,000 career point mark during the season.
Intended Major: Biology
Bozzella on Harris: "Kailah comes from one of the best high school programs in the nation and because of that she is extremely well-coaches and coachable. Her size combined with her athleticism make her an ideal post in our system as she can run the floor, shoot the 3 and finish inside."
Hofschild comes to The Hall by way of Minnesota, where she is one of the top prep prospects in the Great Lakes State. She has played at Prior Lake since her eight-grade season and currently has 1,973 points with the Lakers, a school record. Hofschild also holds school records for made 3-pointers (245) and points in a season (845). She led Prior Lake to the Section 2AAAA title as a junior, scoring a school-record 42 points in the district championship game. Following her junior season she was a Star Tribune Second Team All-Metro pick.
Intended Major: Business Administration
Bozzella on Hofschild: "I am thrilled that we were able to sign a guard of McKenna's ability. She is a high-tempo, playmaking guard who will play all 94 feet for all 40 minutes. McKenna can score it and distribute and will have a chance to be an immediate impact player in the BIG EAST."
Jackson is a polished combo guard who enters her senior season at Wilmington already as the program's all-time leading scorer. She has scored 1,406 points in her high school career, leaving her only seven shy of the Clinton County record. As a sophomore, Jackson earned honorable mention Division II All-Ohio when she averaged 20.6 points per game. As a junior, she was named Division I Second Team All-Ohio and was the SBAAC American Division Player of the Year. During her junior season, Jackson averaged 23 points per game and led Wilmington to a 20-3 record.
Intended Major: Business Administration
Bozzella on Jackson: "We absolutely loved Mya during the recruiting process. Her ability to score from all three levels is impressive, as is her commitment to the defensive side of the ball. She will be able to play multiple guard spots in our system and her skills in transition make her an ideal fit with a chance to contribute right away."
Keenan will come to The Hall by way of Pennsylvania, where she projects to be a four-year starter at Northampton High School. With the Konkrete-Kids, has scored over 1,200 career points and knocked down a program-record 171 career 3-pointers. She was a 2017-18 Morning Call All-Area selection after averaging 16.8 ppg, 4.1 apg and 3.0 spg in her junior season.
Intended Major: Athletic Training
Bozzella on Keenan: "Victoria is a shooter, and a terrific one at that. She has 'in-the-gym' range and is not afraid to pull the trigger, which again makes her a perfect guard for our system. She has playmaking ability and is a strong defender as well so I am very excited to see her develop."
Park-Lane preps at the Sanford school in her native Delaware and has also spent time with some of the top AAU programs in the Northeast. At Sanford, she was a 2018 First Team All-State selection by the Delaware State News. Park-Lane was also a Second Team USA TODAY All-State selection following her freshman season at Sanford.
Intended Major: Africana Studies
Bozzella on Park-Lane: "Lauren has one of the highest motors on a player I have seen and plays with a tremendous amount of grit and determination. She can push tempo and score the ball on the offensive end while also being a tenacious defender on the other end. I am certain she will lead by example here."
