2/11/2018 4:23:00 PM | Women's Basketball
VILLANOVA, Pa. – Despite a spirited comeback bid in the second half, the Seton Hall women's basketball team (15-11, 7-8 BIG EAST) couldn't overcome a slow start and fell at Villanova (20-5, 10-4 BIG EAST) by a score of 59-53 on Sunday afternoon at Jake Nevin Field House.
The Hall trailed by 11 at the half after scoring only 18 points in opening two quarters, before seeing VU swell its lead to as many as 18 in the third quarter. The Pirates answered and fought back emphatically, pulling within single digits early in the fourth quarter and getting as close as six late. Despite the valiant effort, six was as close as the Pirates would come in the final frame of the setback.
JaQuan Jackson (Killeen, Texas) led three Pirates in double-figures with 13 points, while Selena Philoxy (Queens, N.Y.) had a career day with 12 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double. Kaela Hilaire (Queens, N.Y.) also finished in double-figures with 10 points. For VU, Alex Louin led the way with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
