SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Seton Hall women's basketball and head coach Anthony Bozzella have inked Newark-native Danielle Robinson to a national letter of intent. The incoming freshman will suit up for the 2018-19 season and becomes the fourth member and third freshman in The Hall's class.
Robinson spent two years at Malcom X Shabazz High School in Newark before finishing her career at University High School, also in Newark. The 5'11 guard won the Newark Public Schools Tournament championship as a freshman at Shabazz and was named Tournament MVP, before closing her career with a Group 1 Championship and Tournament of Champions appearance as a senior at University.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Danielle to our Pirate family," Bozzella said. "She is a tremendously talented local guard, exactly the type of player we strive to keep home. Danielle is one of the best pure passers I have ever seen at any level and her versatility gives her a chance to become a truly special BIG EAST talent."
In two seasons at Shabazz Robinson averaged over 10 points per game, highlighted by the Newark Public Schools Tournament crown in her freshman season. In her junior season at University, Robinson averaged 15.8 points, 7.1 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game to help the Phoenix reach the Group 1 Final. She capped her high school career by averaging 14.8 points, 6.8 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game to earn Third Team All-State and First Team All-County honors from NJ.com. In her senior season, Robinson led University to a 30-3 record and a Group Championship.
Robinson becomes the fourth member of The Hall's cast of newcomers for 2018-19, joining fellow freshmen Femi Funeus and Whitney Howell and transfer Alexis Lewis.
