JaQuan Jackson Signs to Begin Pro Career In Germany

SAARLOUIS, Germany - Graduating women's basketball senior and 2017-18 captain JaQuan Jackson has signed with the Saarlouis Royals of the Damen-Basketball-Bundesliga (DBBL) to begin her professional basketball career. Jackson will head to Germany in September to begin play in the country's top women's basketball division.Â
"I am extremely excited for this opportunity to continue my playing career in a new country in one of the best overseas leagues out there," Jackson said. "I want to thank everyone at Seton Hall University for the amazing three years I spent here, as I will walk at commencement next weeks with my degree in hand and am now being afforded this wonderful opportunity to continue playing the game I love," Jackson added.Â
"We are so proud of Quanny for everything she accomplished both on and off the court at Seton Hall," head coach Anthony Bozzella said. "From being a part of an NCAA team during her sit-out year to being the third-leading scorer in the BIG EAST, no matter the role we asked she was an exemplary student-athlete through and through. I am so excited that she will be able to continue her playing career and see the world before putting her social work degree to use."
Jackson joined The Hall prior to the 2015-16 season after spending two years at Louisiana Tech. She was a crucial practice player for the '15-16 squad that won 23 games and reached the NCAA Tournament. As a junior in 2016-17, Jackson led The Hall and ranked third in the BIG EAST with 15.3 points per game to earn Second Team All-Metropolitan honors.
As a senior in 2017-18, Jackson started every contest and was a team captain for a squad that reached the WNIT. She scored 11.1 points per game and turned in the most efficient season of her career, shooting 41.5 percent from the floor, 37.6 percent from 3-point range and 89.6 percent from the free throw line.
Jackson joins a growing number of former Pirates continuing their careers overseas, including former teammates Tiffany Jones (Germany) and Tabatha Richardson-Smith (Lebanon).
