Pirates Net AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, KY. - For the fourth year in a row, the Seton Hall women's volleyball team received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintained at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

Eight of the BIG EAST Conference's 10 volleyball programs received the prestigious honor recognizing success in the classroom.

The AVCA Team Academic Award, celebrating its 26th year, is the single largest award offered by quantity of schools, players and coaches honored. This year, the AVCA honored 973 teams with the Team Academic Award. This number breaks the previous year's total of 835 to set an all-time high.

The Seton Hall women's volleyball team will open its 2018 season on August 24 when it takes on North Dakota State and host Buffalo in New York as part of the Blue & White Classic. The Pirates will wrap up play at the tournament with a match against Niagara on August 25.
