The Pirates will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 29 when it makes the short trip to Queens, N.Y. for a BIG EAST Conference match at St. John's. Match time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

LAST MATCH
On Wednesday, senior Abby Thelen (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) recorded a match-high 14 kills, but the Pirates fell at Georgetown, 3-0 (21-25, 16-25, 18-25). Thelen was efficient too, notching a .310 attack percentage, but she as the only Pirate to record more than five kills in the match.

SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S
Seton Hall and St. John's will continue their long rivalry on Saturday. The Pirates have a 17-12 all-time lead in the series, and have won eight of the last nine contests.Â

Last year, the Pirates swept the season series. On Oct. 14, The Hall swept St. John's in Walsh Gym. Thelen had a match-high 15 kills, only three attack errors and a .444 attack percentage in a dominant performance. Sophia Coffey (Sierra Madre, Calif) was one dig shy of a double-double, finishing with 14 assists and nine digs. On Nov. 11, Seton Hall defeated St. John's in four sets at Carnesecca Arena. Thelen, Caitlin Koska (Franklin, Wis.) and Haylee Gasser (Mission Viejo, Calif.) were among five Pirates to reach double-figures in kills. Coffey had a double-double with a team-high 27 assists and 10 digs.

St. John's enters Saturday's match with a 13-6 overall record and an even 2-2 mark in BIG EAST Conference play. They've won five of their last seven matches, but fell at Villanova on Wednesday in five sets. Last weekend, the Red Storm recorded a pair of five-set victories at home against Butler and Xavier. St. John's is 6-1 at Carnesecca Arena this season.

St. John's was picked to finish tied for sixth in the 10-team BIG EAST in the Preseason Coaches Poll. Junior setter Erica Di Maulo was a unanimous selection for the 2018 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.
