
The Hall Concludes Road Swing Sunday At Xavier

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Seton Hall women's basketball team (9-4, 1-1 BIG EAST) will look to a quick turnaround to bounce back after its first league defeat when it visits Xavier (9-5, 0-3 BIG EAST) for a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday afternoon. The contest will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network via the FOX Sports App and can be heard on WSOU.net.Â
Both squads are coming off Friday night setbacks, as The Hall fell by three at Butler and Xavier dropped a 76-57 decision home to St. John's. The Pirates have enjoyed plenty of success against Xavier since the Musketeers joined the BIG EAST, holding a 10-1 all-time record in the series. The Hall swept three meetings last season including a BIG EAST Tournament First Round match-up.Â

- The Pirates are top-30 nationally in scoring offense, assists per game, 3-pointers made, steals per game, turnovers forced and turnover margin
- Shadeen Samuels leads SHU with 15.3 points per game, 9.2 rebounds and a 55.4 field goal percentage - all top five in the BIG EAST
- Joining Samuels in double-figures are Nicole Jimenez with 12.5 per game and Inja Butina at 10.8 per contest
- The Hall fell for the first time in conference play on Friday night, dropping a 62-59 decision at first place Butler
- The Pirates showed plenty of resolve in defeat, as they trailed for over 36 minutes of action but managed to take a 59-57 lead with 1:40 to go in regulation
- Butler answered and scored the final five points of the contest, all coming at the free throw line
- Kaela Hilaire led the Pirates with 15 points and six assists in the setback, while Shadeen Samuels narrowly missed a double-double with eight points and nine reboundsÂ
- The Hall entered the contest shooting 36.1 percent from 3-point range and averaging 9.8 makes per game, but suffered an ice cold 5-of-33 shooting day from deep
- The Pirates got a spark from the bench in the setback as their reserves out-scored the Butler bench, 32-7
- The Hall also convered 13 offensive rebounds in a 12-11 edge in second chance points and turned 14 BU turnovers into a 22-11 edge off miscuesÂ
- Desiree Elmore just missed joining Hilaire in double-figures with nine points and added six rebounds and two assists
- Xavier enters Sunday's contest with a 9-5 overall record, but is off to an 0-3 start to BIG EAST play
- The Musketeers have been strong at home this season with an 8-2 record at the Cintas Center
- A'riana Gray leads XU with 13.4 points per game, nearly averaging a double-double with 9.7 rebounds per contest
- Na'Teshia Owens also scores in double-figures with 12.5 points per game, one of five Musketeers that average over eight points per contest
