
Balanced Offensive Effort Leads to Sweep of Georgetown

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – No Pirate had more than nine kills, but four had at least six as a balanced offensive attack fueled the Seton Hall women's volleyball team to a three-set sweep of Georgetown, 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-19), on Wednesday.

Senior Haylee Gasser (Mission Viejo, Calif.) had a match-high nine kills to go with four blocks and two digs. Amanda Rachwal (Bethlehem, Pa.), Reece Koehler (Stillwater, Minn.) and Emilee Turner (Kaysville, Utah) combined for 21 kills and only three attack errors (one apiece).

Senior setter Maggie Cvelbar (Euclid, Ohio) finished just one dig shy of another double-double, finishing with a match-high 26 assists to go with nine digs.Â

SET 1:
Leading 7-6 early in set one, the Pirates erupted for six unanswered points, and a kill by Gasser put The Hall on top, 14-6. Georgetown was never able to cut the deficit to fewer than seven points for the remainder of the set. Ahead 19-12, The Hall closed out the set with a 6-1 run, in route to a 25-13 thumping of the Hoyas in set one.

SET 2:
Seton Hall's offense was even more impressive in the second set, totaling 16 kills, only four attack errors and a .410 attack percentage. The Pirates led for most of the set, but Georgetown scored four straight to cut a sizeable Seton Hall lead to just one, 17-16. Out of a timeout however, The Hall scored five points in a row, and used a set-ending 8-2 run to take a 2-0 match lead.

The Hall kept the offensive pedal down in the final set. Leading 13-11, the Pirates went on a 6-2 run, and a kill by Rachwal extended their lead to 19-13. Georgetown was able to cut their deficit to three points, 19-16, but couldn't get closer and The Hall closed out the match with a 25-19 set three victory.

Seton Hall will return to action on Friday, Oct. 11 when it heads to Cincinnati, Ohio for a contest at Xavier. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
