LAST WEEKEND
The Pirates had a tough weekend in a pair of losses in the Midwest against Xavier and Butler. Freshman Julia Wilkins (Mason, Ohio) had a team-high nine kills, but the Pirates fell at Xavier, 3-0 (19-25, 23-25, 17-25), on Friday. In addition to her team-best seven kills, Wilkins also had seven digs and a service ace. Senior Maggie Cvelbar (Euclid, Ohio) finished one dig shy of a double-double, finishing with 28 assists and nine digs.  Â
Â
On Saturday, Cvelbar had 30 assists and nine digs, but The Hall fell at Butler, 3-0 (13-25, 14-25, 16-25).Â
Cvelbar finished just one dig shy of a double-double for a third straight match. She did however, notch her seventh 30-assist performance of the season.  Senior Haylee Gasser (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Wilkins tied for the team lead with eight kills apiece.  Â
Â
SCOUTING VILLANOVA
Seton Hall and Villanova will meet for the 45th time in history on Wednesday, with the Wildcats owning a 28-16 lead in the all-time series. Last year, Villanova swept the season series, defeating the Pirates in four sets in Pennsylvania and three sets in Walsh Gym.
Â
Villanova enters the weekend with a 12-5 overall record and a 3-2 mark in BIG EAST Conference play. They're a perfect 4-0 at home this season. The Wildcats are coming off a pair of losses last week. They dropped a midweek contest at St. John's on Wednesday in straight sets, and fell at La Salle in five sets in Saturday's non-conference tilt.
Â
Villanova's three conference wins have come via home sweeps against Butler and Xavier, as well as a four-set victory at Providence.
Â
The Wildcats were picked to fourth in the 10-team BIG EAST Conference in the preseason coaches' poll. Senior Regan Lough was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.Â
