South Orange, N.J. - The Pirates dropped their final non-conference game of the 2019 season to Army on Tuesday night, 2-1. The setback drops the Pirates to 5-8-1 with two more BIG EAST games to play before season's end.
The scoring started early in this one with both teams getting on the scoreboard within the first six minute sof the game. First, the visiting Black Knights were able to put one in the back of the net off the foot of Jake Burgess from Alex Grave de Peralta. The goal was Burgess's first of the campaign.
Quickly, however, the Pirates rebounded with a goal of their own from Camil Koreichi (Paris, France), his third of the season. Koreichi was able to find the equalizer from a rebound after graduate student Stephen Elias (Rye, N.Y.) drew the keeper out with a quick cross from inside the box.
Turning Point
Midway through the second half Tyler Mitchiner scored the game winning goal off a corner for the Black Knights. Mitchiner snuck one just into the corner of the net to give Army the lead for good.
