LAST WEEKEND
Last weekend, the Pirates dropped a pair of five-set heart-breaking losses to Butler and Xavier. On Friday, the Pirates had three match points in the third set, but couldn't find the elusive 25th point and Butler rallied to win in five sets, 3-2 (25-22, 25-18, 24-26, 19-25, 11-15).
Â
Three Pirates had at least 14 kills with freshman Julia Wilkins (Mason, Ohio) notching a match-high 16 kills. Junior Amanda Rachwal (Bethlehem, Pa.) finished with 15 kills, and Gasser had 14. Both Gasser and Cvelbar notched double-doubles.
Â
On Saturday, Wilkins poured in a career-high 19 kills and Rachwal had 12 kills and only one attack error, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell in five sets to Xavier, 3-2 (27-25, 26-24, 21-25, 15-25, 18-20). It was a tough weekend for the injured, undermanned Pirates who fell in five sets for the second straight night after winning the first two sets.
Â
Rachwal had a team-best .393 attack percentage, five digs and four blocks in addition to her 12 kills. Both Gasser and Cvelbar notched double-doubles for a second straight conteset. Gasser finished with 11 kills and a career-high 19 digs, while Cvelbar had a team-high 31 assists and 10 digs.

SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S
Seton Hall holds an all-time lead in the series with St. John's, 17-14, but the Red Storm swept the season home-and-home series last year.
Â
St. John's enters the weekend with a 17-10 overall record and a 9-5 mark in BIG EAST Conference play, which is good for fourth in the standings. The top four teams at season's end will advance to the BIG EAST Championship. St. John's is 8-2 at Carnesseca Arena this year, but just 5-4 away from home.
Â
The Red Storm enter the weekend having won three straight BIG EAST matches and four of their last five. Last weekend, they swept both Xavier and Butler at home.
