ATLANTA – Seton Hall senior Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.) was named to the Women's Citizen Naismith Trophy Watch List by the Atlanta Tipoff Club on Wednesday.
Â
Samuels is one of 50 nationwide Watch List candidates for an award which recognizes the best player in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. The midseason 30 team will be announced in early February, and then the competition will be narrowed down to 10 national semifinalists on March 3, 2020.  Following those results, four finalists will be named on March 20, 2020, and the winner of the 2020 Citizen Naismith Trophy for Women's Player of the Year will be announced on April 4, 2020.
Â
"We're so proud of the player and person Shadeen has become," said Seton Hall Head Coach Anthony Bozzella. "These preseason awards and watch lists are a testament to her hard work and dedication to her craft over the years."Â
Â
Named the 2019-20 BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year, Samuels is coming off a breakout junior season for The Hall, winning the BIG EAST scoring title by averaging 20.2 points per game over her 17 league contests.
