PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team (14-9, 6-6 BIG EAST) fell victim to a huge second half rally at Providence (14-10, 6-6 BIG EAST) and fell by a score of 82-75 on Friday night at Alumni Hall. Desiree Elmore (Hartford, Conn.) led the Pirates with a career-high 22 points in the setback.
Elmore was one of four Pirates in double-figures, joined by Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.) with 17 points and Nicole Jimenez (Miami, Fla.) and Inja Butina (Zagreb, Croatia) with 15 and 10, respectively. The Friars got a huge game from senior Maddie Jolin, who finished with 25 points and was 10-of-10 from the free throw line.
How it Happened
The Hall held a 40-31 halftime lead and stretched its lead to as many as 13 midway through the third period. The Friars battled back with an 8-0 run to close the third and pull within three heading to the fourth. PC then jumped ahead with a fast start to the final frame, scoring the first five points of the period. The Pirates briefly re-took the lead in the fourth quarter with a Kaity Healy (Freehold, N.J.) 3-pointer, but it was short-lived and the Friars stayed ahead for the final 7:54 of regulation.
Inside The Numbers
The Pirates continue a two-game road swing on Sunday when they visit Creighton for a 2 p.m. (ET) tilt on FS2.
