PRINCETON, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to action on Saturday for the first two of three rounds of action at the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club, April 6-7.

The Course:
Dating back to 1895, Springdale Golf Club is one of the oldest in New Jersey. Designed by Gerard Lambert and revised by William Flynn in 1926, the walkable course requires precision shot-making and has superior conditions and playability. The property, which was originally private farmland, was purchased by the Class of 1886 and gifted to Princeton University with the expectation of establishing one of the first courses in the region. The private club has a close relationship with the University, and counts many university professors, administrators and students among its members.  With a fine and experienced PGA staff, the club hosts numerous tournaments, collegiate matches, clinics and golf outings every year.Â

In addition to Seton Hall and host Princeton, the field includes 11 other schools:Â Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Georgetown, Harvard, Loyola (Md.), Penn, Rider, Saint Joseph's, Temple and Yale.

Last Time Out:
Sophomore Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) fired an even-par, 71, in the final round of the 2019 Redhawk Invitational to lead the Pirates to a 14th place team finish on Tuesday.

Acevedo had two birdies and 14 pars to lead The Hall in the third round. For the tournament, Acevedo tied for 44th place with a 2-over-par, 73-71-71-215.  The top Pirate for the tournament was Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England). The sophomore fired a 2-over-par, 71, today fueled by a trio of birdies. For the tournament, he tied for 21st place among 102 individual golfers with a 3-under-par, 67-70-73-210. It's Tait's second career sub-par tournament.

As a team, Seton Hall shot a 7-over-par, 291, in Tuesday's final round. For the three-day event, The Hall shot a 6-over-par, 287-280-291-858. UCLA won the team title at 37-under-par.

Last Time at Princeton:
Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) had the top final round for the Pirates as The Hall finished in a tie for eighth place at the rain-shortened Princeton Invitational last spring.

In all, he finished with a 3-over-par, 74, in round two. For the tournament, Tait tied for 30th place with a 5-over-par, 73-74-147. The top Pirate competitor for the weekend was Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.). He narrowly missed his 11th career top-10, finishing in a tie for 11th place with a 1-over-par, 68-75-143.

As a team, the Pirates had their share of difficulty in the final round. A day after shooting an impressive even-par, 284, The Hall fired a 20-over-par, 304. They tied Saint Joseph's for eighth place with a 20-over-par, 284-304-588. Yale won the team title 2-over-par.

The field will play 36 continuous holes on Saturday and one final round on Sunday. Play begins with a tee times starting at 7:45 am on Saturday, and 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. The Hall will be paired with golfers from Princeton and Yale on Saturday.
