SOUTH KENT, CONN. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to action starting Monday with three rounds of golf at the 2019 Hartford Hawks Invitational at Bull's Bridge Golf Club, September 16-17.
Â
Tournament Details:
2019 HARTFORD HAWKS INVITATIONAL
Host:Â University of Hartford
Location:Â South Kent, Conn.
Course:Â Bull's Bridge Golf Club
Course Vitals:Â Par-72, 6,992 yards
Dates:Â September 16-17, 2019
Â
The Course:
Nestled in northwestern Connecticut's scenic Litchfield County, Bull's Bridge Golf Club offers a truly unique golf experience. The Berkshire foothills provide an impressive panorama with spectacular views prominent throughout the property. The 18 hole, championship golf course was opened in 2004, and it has quickly commanded the attention of the golf community. Designed by Tom Fazio, one of America's greatest living golf architects, the par-72 layout exemplifies his trademark design versatility. With four sets of tees, two hybrid course layouts and yardages ranging from 5,300 to 7,000 yards, the course simultaneously appeals to and challenges players of all skill levels. While Travel + Leisure Golf rated it one of America's Best New Private Courses in 2004, the course already exhibits a maturity and presentation level well beyond its years.
Â
The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Hartford, the large field includes 15 other schools:Â Bryant, Central Florida, Connecticut, Fairfield, Fairleigh Dickinson, Fordham, Hofstra, LIU, Mount St. Mary's, Rider, Sacred Heart, Saint Francis, TCU, Texas-Rio Grande and Wagner.Â
Â
The Seton Hall Lineup:
Individual – Alex McAuley, Senior
Individual – Hunter Ramee, Sophomore
Â
Last Time at Bull's Bridge:
Chris Yeom shot a 3-under-par, 69, in an interrupted second round to lead the Pirates to a third place finish at a rain-shortened 2018 Hartford Hawks Invitational.Â
Â
Yeom was brilliant in Hartford, tying for second place among 112 individual golfers, and finishing just one stroke behind the individual champion, Central Florida's Bobby Bai. For the tournament, he shot an 8-under-par, 67-69-136, which broke former teammate Lloyd Jefferson Go's two-round, par-72 record by two strokes. Go set the record at this tournament in 2016.
Â
Collectively, The Hall finished with a 12-under-par, 282-282-564. Like Yeom's score broke the Seton Hall individual record, The Hall's 564 set the two-round team record for a par-72 tournament. Furthermore, Seton Hall's -12 is the second-most strokes under par for a tournament of any par in Pirate history.
Â
Last Time Out:
Junior Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) fired an even-par, 72, in the final round to lift the Pirates to a third place finish at the 2019 Alex Lagowitz Memorial on Sunday.
Â
Tait's final round ended with a flourish, as he birdied four of the final six holes. The junior tied for fifth place with a 1-over-par, 72-73-72-217. Tait finished eight strokes behind the individual champion, Rhode Island's Chris Francoeur. The result is Tait's second career top-5 finish, joining his individual title of the UNCG/Martin Downs Collegiate as a freshman.
Â
As a team, the Pirates were 21-over-par with a 290-297-298-885, finishing five strokes behind the team champion, Cornell. Bucknell finished second at 19-over-par. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, Villanova, finished at a distant 33-over-par.
