
Seton Hall Falls to La Salle, 3-0

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Junior Amanda Rachwal (Bethlehem, Pa.) had six kills and no attack errors, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell to La Salle, 3-0 (17-25, 17-25, 19-25), on Saturday evening.

Senior Maggie Cvelbar (Euclid, Ohio) also had a solid match, almost recording a double-double, but settling with nine assists and a team-best nine digs.

SET 1:
La Salle (3-2) had its best offensive set in the opener, recording 18 kills with only one attack error for a .486 first set attack percentage. A kill by Hayley Gasser (Mission Viejo, Calif.) gave The Hall (0-5) an early 2-1 lead, but the Explorers bounced back with a 6-1 run and never trailed again. The Pirates cut their deficit to 17-14, but La Salle scored five of the next six points to grab a commanding 22-15 advantage in route to a 25-17 win.

SET 2:
With the score tied at 10 in the second set, La Salle scored five of the next six points to jump ahead 15-11. Leading 19-15, the Explorers scored five straight points to enter set point, 24-15. The Hall staved off two set points, but ultimately fell by the same score as set one, 25-17.

Trailing 10-9 in set three, the Pirates scored three straight, and block assists by Wilkins and Reece Koehler (Stillwater, Minn.), gave them a 12-10 lead. La Salle however, responded with four straight points of their own to reclaim the lead, and never trailed again. An Explorer attack error got the Pirates to within one point, 17-16, but La Salle pulled away with a 6-0 run. The Explorers went on to win set three, 25-19.

Seton Hall will return to action tomorrow as the Seton Hall Classic continues. The Hall will face Binghamton at 11:00 a.m. followed by Northeastern at 7:00 p.m.
