LAST GAME
Senior Barbara Johnson (Toronto, Ontario) collected her first career double-double, but the Pirates fell to No. 15 DePaul, 85-68, in Chicago on Friday. Johnson scored a team-high 17 points on an efficient 7-for-11 shooting from the field. She also collected a career-high 10 rebounds to go with two assists and two steals.
Â
Senior Alexis Lewis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) and junior Desiree Elmore (Hartford, Conn.) also reached double-figures in scoring. Lewis had 12 points on four made three-pointers, while Elmore notched 11 points.
Â
With the score tied at 22 after one quarter, DePaul opened the second period with a 13-3 run to grab a 35-25 lead with 5:46 left in the first half. Down eight, Elmore completed a three-point play with only four seconds to go before the break to send The Hall into halftime down only five, 46-41.
Â
Seton Hall continued to remain close throughout most of the third quarter, and a layup by Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.) cut the Pirates' deficit to seven points, 66-59, with only 42 seconds left in the period. As the game went into the fourth however, the Blue Demons went on a 10-0 run to break the game open. A layup by DePaul's Lexi Held gave them a commanding 76-59 advantage with 6:19 left in the game. The Hall was able to cut its deficit to 10 points with 4:19 to go, but couldn't get closer.

Last Meeting: Marquette 109, HALL 63 – Feb. 17, 2019
Â
LAST TIME AGAINST MARQUETTE
The Pirates dropped a 109-63 decision to No. 8 Marquette on Feb. 17 on Senior Day at Walsh Gym last year. It was one of the most lopsided losses in program history.
Â
Prior to the contest, the Pirates honored their senior class of Inja Butina, Victoria Cardaci, Kaity Healy and Nicole Jimenez. Butina and Jimenez were among the three Pirates to finish in double-figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Desiree Elmore led The Hall with 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the setback.
Â
Marquette led for all but 2:10 of the contest, taking a double-digit lead after a quarter and cruising to its 13th win in 14 BIG EAST games. Natisha Hiedeman led the top-10 ranked Golden Eagles with 34 points and Danielle King added 20 with 12 assists.
Â
SCOUTING MARQUETTE
The Golden Eagles are coming off one of their most-successful seasons in program history. Last year, they finished with a 27-8 record, losing in the title game of the BIG EAST Championship and making it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Â
This year, Marquette has continued its winning ways, but not to the level of national success of a year ago. They've won 11 of their first 15 contests overall and sport a 2-2 record in the BIG EAST. Marquette has played the toughest conference schedule so far, dropping games at DePaul and at Creighton. Most recently, they defeated St. John's on Friday, 94-85.
Â
Selena Lott leads Marquette in scoring, averaging 15.8 points per game. She also leads the BIG EAST with 5.9 assists per contest. Lauren Van Kleunen and Isabelle Spingola are also averaging in double-figures in scoring.
Â
UP NEXT
Seton Hall will return to the friendly confines of Walsh Gymnasium on Friday, January 17 when it hosts Creighton. Tip-time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. ET. The BIG EAST Digital Network and 89.FM WSOU will again bring you all the action.
