LAST GAME
Senior Barbara Johnson (Toronto, Ontario) had a team-high 20 points, and the Pirates cut a 20-point deficit to only seven late, but ultimately fell at Marquette, 81-60, in Milwaukee on Sunday. Johnson scored 20 points on 8-for-17 shooting. She also grabbed six rebounds and tied her career-high with four steals.
Â
The Golden Eagles opened the third quarter with 20 of the first 24 points to take a commanding 58-38 lead with 3:50 left in the period. In all, going back to the end of the second quarter, Marquette had a 24-4 run over 8:37 to assume control. The Hall was just 1-for-13 from the floor during that span, while the Golden Eagles were 9-for-15.
Â
A 10-1 Seton Hall run, capped by a pair of free-throws by Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.), cut Marquette's lead to only nine points, 60-51, with 9:42 left in the contest. That lead dipped to seven points on a mid-range jumper by Johnson with 5:18 to go. However, The Hall couldn't get closer.

Â
LAST TIME AGAINST CREIGHTON
The Pirates dropped an 80-71 decision at Creighton on Feb. 10 last year at D.J. Sokol Arena.
Â
Inja Butina led four Pirates in double-figures with 16 points, while Desiree Elmore (Hartford, Conn.) added 15 and six rebounds. Also in double-digits for The Hall were Kaela Hilaire with 12 points and Shadeen Samuels with 10.
Â
In the fourth quarter, both Elmore and Samuels fouled out and Creighton took advantage with a 14-1 run midway through the frame that put CU up as many as 17 with three minutes to play. The Hall continued to fight and used a late 9-0 run get back within six in the final minute of regulation but it was too little too late and Creighton held on.Â
Â
SCOUTING CREIGHTON
The Bluejays are coming off a 15-16 season, which included an 8-10 mark in BIG EAST play. They upset third-seeded Butler in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament, but fell to the eventual champions, DePaul, in the semis to complete their season.
Â
This year, Creighton has been a force. The Bluejays are off to a 12-4 start overall and have won four of their first five conference games. Their non-conference schedule featured victories over rival Nebraska and No. 23 West Virginia. So far in BIG EAST play, The Hall has Georgetown, Villanova, Marquette, and most recently, Providence on Saturday.
Â
Senior Jaylyn Agnew has emerged as one of the top players in the BIG EAST and ranks second in the conference with 19.6 points per game. Temi Carda and Tatum Rembao are also averaging in double-figures in scoring.
Â
UP NEXT
Seton Hall will remain home for another BIG EAST contest against Providence on Sunday at Walsh Gym. Tip-time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET. The BIG EAST Digital Network and 89.FM WSOU will again bring you all the action.
