LAST GAME
Junior Desiree Elmore (Hartford, Conn.) scored a team-high 21 points and the Pirates led wire-to-wire in a convincing 79-60 victory over Georgetown on Sunday at historic Walsh Gymnasium. Elmore came off the bench to tally 21 on an efficient 7-for-9 shooting from the floor. She also grabbed five rebounds in just over 20 minutes of action.
Â
Senior Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.) and freshman Mya Jackson (Wilmington, Ohio) also reached double-figures in scoring. Samuels had 13 points to go with four rebounds and a pair of assists, while Jackson had 12 points, two steals and a team-high five assists. Junior Selena Philoxy (Queens, N.Y.) continued to be a beast on the boards, grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds to go with four points and two steals in only 17 minutes.
Â
Seton Hall held Georgetown scoreless for the first 3:15 of the game and scored the first six points to assume control early. The Pirates game-starting run ran was upped to 13-3 with a pair of free-throws by Elmore with only 2:40 left in the first quarter. The Hall then erupted for 10 points in the final two minutes of the quarter to send them into the second with a commanding 23-8 advantage.
Â
Already leading 43-27, The Hall went on a 7-0 burst capped by fade-away jumper from Philoxy to take an insurmountable, 50-27, advantage with 5:51 left in the third quarter.

Â
LAST TIME AGAINST DE PAUL
The Pirates dropped a high-scoring affair to DePaul, 94-85, last year on Feb. 15 at Walsh Gym.
Â
Desiree Elmore led four Pirate scorers in double-figures with 21 points in the setback, also grabbing a team-high eight rebounds and snaring three steals. The Pirates showed great resolve throughout the game and cut double-digit deficits down to one point twice in the second half. The Hall was never able to re-take the lead, however, as DePaul made clutch late plays down the stretch to close out the win and earn a split of the regular season series.
Â
Shadeen Samuels finished with 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting for the Pirates, despite exiting the game with 2:29 to play in the third quarter. Nicole Jimenez and Inja Butina added 16 and 11 points, respectively, to round out the Seton Hall scorers in double-figures.
Â
SCOUTING DE PAUL
The Blue Demons are coming off a strong 26-8 season, which included their second straight BIG EAST Championship. DePaul edged Marquette, 74-73, in the championship game to claim the title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. DePaul's postseason run was cut short in the first round however, by Missouri State in the first round.
Â
This year, DePaul has continued its recent excellence. The BIG EAST preseason favorite has raced off to a 13-2 start overall and a perfect 3-0 mark in conference play. They enter their contest with Seton Hall ranked 15th in the country and coming off a pair of BIG EAST road victories last weekend at Providence and at Creighton.
Â
DePaul has three players currently averaging at least 14.0 points per game. Chante Stonewall leads the team at 18.5 points per game.
Â
UP NEXT
Seton Hall will remain on the road for a BIG EAST contest on Sunday, January 12 in Milwaukee, Wis. against Marquette. Tip-time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET. The BIG EAST Digital Network and 89.FM WSOU will again bring you all the action.
