LAST GAMEÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Both Desiree Elmore (Hartford, Conn.) and Victoria Keenan (Bethlehem, Pa.) scored at least 20 points as the Seton Hall women's basketball team tied its single-game points record in a 107-60 victory over Saint Peter's in its season-opener on Tuesday.
Â
The inspired Pirates were playing their first game without head coach Anthony Bozzella, who continues to recover from COVID-19.Â
Â
Elmore led all scorers with 25 points on an efficient 10-for-12 shooting from the floor. Keenan led an assault from long-distance, going a perfect 7-for-7 from three-point range. The Hall as a team drained 13 on the afternoon. Keenan finished with a career-high 21 points.

LAST TIME AGAINST WAGNER
The Pirates cruised to a 95-40 rout over Wagner in the season opener in 2018 at Walsh Gym. Victoria Cardaci led the offensive onslaught with a game-high 21 points, tying the program record for 3-pointers in a game with seven.
Â
Shadeen Samuels also had a big game for the Pirates as one of four players in double-figures, finishing with 18 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Inja Butina and Desiree Elmore added 12 points apiece to round out the double-digit scorers.
Â
After Wagner opened the game with back-to-back 3-pointers, the Pirates responded emphatically with a huge 15-0 run and went up 15-9 before the game's first media stoppage. Cardaci knocked down two 3-pointers during the run and Samuels added four points. The Pirates kept up the pressure and built a 27-17 lead after a quarter. The second frame was all Pirates, as The Hall swelled its lead to 52-27 at the halftime break.
Â
SCOUTING WAGNER
Wagner is coming off a 10-20 season in 2019-20, which included losses in eight of its final 10 games. Three starters return from last year's team including 2020-21 Preseason All-NEC selection Emilija Krista Grava, who finished just one rebound shy of a double-double in her last meeting with Seton Hall, which happened to be her first collegiate game.
Â
Collectively, Wagner was picked to finish sixth in the nine-team Northeast Conference according to the coaches' preseason poll.Â
Â
Similarly to the Pirates, COVID-19 has caused the Seahawks to get a late start to their season. Friday's contest with the Pirates will be Wagner's opener.
Â
UP NEXT
Seton Hall will likely return to action on Sunday, December 13 in Walsh Gym. At this time, its opponent is to be determined.Â
