
Offense Erupts in Season-Opening Win, 107-60

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Both Desiree Elmore (Hartford, Conn.) and Victoria Keenan (Bethlehem, Pa.) scored at least 20 points as the Seton Hall women's basketball team tied its single-game points record in a 107-60 victory over Saint Peter's in its season-opener on Tuesday.

The inspired Pirates were playing their first game without head coach Anthony Bozzella, who continues to recover from COVID-19.Â

Elmore led all scorers with 25 points on an efficient 10-for-12 shooting from the floor. Keenan led an assault from long-distance, going a perfect 7-for-7 from three-point range. The Hall as a team drained 13 on the afternoon. Keenan finished with a career-high 21 points.

The Story:
Seton Hall grabbed the lead from lead from the start and never looked back. Leading 6-4, the Pirates went on a 16-2 run spanning 5:25 in the first quarter to take a commanding 22-6 advantage. The last six points of the burst came on three-pointers by Keenan.Â

Already leading by 11 points in the second quarter, The Hall went on another huge 19-2 run, capped by a three-pointer from Alexia Allesch (Basking Ridge, N.J.), to put the Pirates on top, 47-19, with 2:57 left to play before halftime. The Pirates held the Peacocks to just 28.6% shooting in the first half and took a 49-27 lead into the break.

The second half wasn't any closer as Saint Peter's never got closer than an 18-point deficit. A layup by freshman Amari Wright (Jacksonville, Fla.) with 1:23 left to play in the game ballooned The Hall's lead to a game-high 51 points.

- Freshman McKenna Minter (Lincoln, Neb.) scored 12 points in her collegiate debut on 5-for-6 shooting.
- Junior Alexia Allesch (Basking Ridge, N.J.) had a strong defensive game, grabbing a game-high eight rebounds, blocking two shots and collecting a career-high five steals.
- Seton Hall opens the year with a victory, while Saint Peter's falls to 1-3 overall.
- Seton Hall improves to 47-5 during the Anthony Bozzella era in Walsh Gym against non-conference opponents.
- Seton Hall is now 17-3 all-time against Saint Peter's and has now won eight straight games in the all-time series.
- Seton Hall's 107 points today ties the all-time program record for points in a single-game. The Pirates also scored 107 points against DePaul on Jan. 18, 2015.
- Keenan's seven made three-pointers today is tied for the second-most in a single-game in Seton Hall history. Nicole Jimenez with nine vs. Saint Peter's on Dec. 2, 2018 had more.
- Seton Hall's 13 made three-pointers as a team today ties for seventh-most in Pirate history.
