
Seton Hall Opens Spring Season at UNCG Collegiate

PALM CITY, FLA. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will begin tournament play this Spring with three rounds of golf at the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate, Feb. 14-16, at Banyan Creek Golf Club.

The Course:
Banyan Creek is a private golf club that offers a quiet and serene golf experience for our members. The unique design of the course features breathtaking views of nature and wildlife, with fairways lined with oaks and pines.

The all new Banyan Creek Course is located in the gated community of Martin Downs in Palm City. The course was formerly known as the Crane Creek Course, which was home to multiple PGA tournaments before it closed over a decade ago.

Banyan Creek has been redesigned and enhanced to be on par with local trends. The course offers multiple sets of tees for all skill levels, including a driving range, practice facility, and putting green. Banyan Creek is surrounded by nature, not homes, which is why this course is a unique treasure for our golf community.

In addition to Seton Hall and UNC-Greensboro, the field includes nine other schools:Â Bucknell, Holy Cross, James Madison, Lehigh, Old Dominion, Purdue Fort Wayne, Samford, South Dakota and BIG EAST foe Villanova.

Chris Yeom and Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) each fired an even-par, 72, in the final round to lift the Pirates to a 10th place finish at the 2019 UNCG / Martin Downs Collegiate.

Yeom birdied hole No. 16 and eagled No. 17 in route to his best round of the tournament. He finished the three-round event as the top Pirate performer, tied for 28th place among 92 individual golfers. Yeom shot a 4-over-par, 74-74-72-220. UNCG's Nick Lyerly won the individual title at 9-under-par.Â
Tait saved his best round for Tuesday as well. The sophomore had three birdies, three bogeys and 12 pars in round three. For the tournament, he tied for 49th place with an 11-over-par, 80-75-72-227.

Tait won the individual title at this tournament two years ago.

As a team, The Hall fired a 5-over-par, 293, in the final round, shaving two strokes off its round two score. For the three-day event, Seton Hall placed 10th with a 34-over-par, 310-295-293-898. Host UNCG ran away with the team title, finishing at 14-under-par. Villanova, Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition in the field, finished 12th, a distant 19 strokes behind the Pirates.
