LAST GAME
Senior Alexis Lewis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) poured in a career-high 28 points and teammate Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.) filled the box score as the Pirates downed Marquette, 72-60, at Walsh Gym on Friday. The victory is the Pirates' fifth in their last six games and moves them to 8-4 in BIG EAST play.
Â
Lewis had her best game in a Pirate uniform, scoring her 28 points on an efficient 11-for-15 shooting from the floor, including 6-for-7 from three-point range. She also had eight rebounds and three steals.  Samuels had 17 points shared the team lead with eight rebounds, six assists and three steals in a strong all-around effort.
Â
Leading 14-12, Seton Hall closed out the first quarter with an 8-2 run to grab a 22-14 advantage after one. Lewis had 11 points and was 3-for-3 with three steals in the opening quarter alone. The Pirates kept their offense going in the second quarter, using an 11-2 run, capped by a steal and breakaway layup by Samuels, to take a commanding 35-18 lead with 4:07 to go before halftime.
Â
In the fourth quarter, the Golden Eagles twice cut their deficit to eight points, but couldn't get closer. In fact, The Hall's lead ballooned back up to 17 points on two occasions, including when Lewis drilled her sixth and final three-pointer of the night with 3:32 remaining in the game.

Â
The Pirates charged out of the gate with an offensive flurry in the first quarter. Leading 10-8 early, The Hall went on an 8-2 run to grab an 18-10 advantage at media break. DePaul however, responded with a 9-2 run of their own to cut The Hall's lead to one. With the score tied at 22 after one quarter, DePaul opened the second period with a 13-3 run to grab a 35-25 lead with 5:46 left in the first half. Down eight, Elmore completed a three-point play with only four seconds to go before the break to send The Hall into halftime down only five, 46-41.
