
Habib Captures First, Pirates Take Second at Lafayette

Easton, Pa. – For the third time this season, Nancy Habib (Clifton, N.J.) took home a first-place individual finish, this time doing so at the Leopard Invitational hosted by Lafayette College. The junior finished with a time of 23:10.21 as the Pirates took second in the 6k race at Metzger field in Easton, Pa. Habib has now led the Pirates in every meet so far this season and has placed top-three in all five meets as an individual.
Following Habib was the freshman pair of Taj Lanier (Lincoln University, Pa.) and Julia Smith (Pittsgrove, N.J.). Lanier took seventh while Smith took ninth in times of 23:56.23 and 24:16.89, respectively. Lanier and Smith now have a combined 11 top-three team finishes on their freshman campaign. Rounding out the top-15 overall finishers for The Hall was Emma Newgarden (Staten Island, N.Y.), Lauren Ginefra (Budd Lake, N.J.) and Abigail Hughes (Staten Island, N.Y.). Newgarden finished in 24:25.36, Ginefra in 24:33.36 and Hughes in 24:41.85 for finishes of 12th, 13th and 14th.
Overall, The Hall totaled 42 points, just eight behind first place Bucknell.
The Pirates will have a week off before returning to action at BIG EAST Championships on Friday, Oct. 29. The conference's championships will be held at Northview Church in Carmel, Ind.
