The Hall trails only Connecticut and DePaul in the 11-team BIG EAST.
NEW YORK – The Seton Hall women's basketball team is predicted to finish third in the 11-team BIG EAST Conference according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Tuesday.
Â
Seton Hall has been selected a solid third, receiving 80 points behind defending BIG EAST champion, Connecticut, and second-place DePaul. Connecticut, a perennial national title contender, was the unanimous choice to repeat as BIG EAST champions. DePaul received the lone other first-place vote and garnered 90 points overall. After the Pirates, Marquette and Villanova round out the top five.
Â
In eight years under Head Coach Anthony Bozzella, the Pirates have either met or exceeded preseason expectations six times. In 2015, The Hall claimed the regular season title. Last year, the Pirates were picked to finish sixth, but qualified for the No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament.
Â
The Pirates are primed for a big season at the beautiful, newly-renovated Walsh Gymnasium. Four of their top five leading scorers from a year ago return, including Espinoza-Hunter, Park-Lane and three-pointer assassin Mya Jackson (Wilmington, Ohio). Add in three impact transfers, all 6-foot-2 and taller, a deep bench, and The Hall is poised to make a postseason run this season.
