Second Half Goal Pushes Marquette Past Seton Hall, 1-0
10/3/2021 3:32:00 PM | Women's Soccer
MILWAUKEE – Marquette broke a scoreless tie in the 69th minute and the goal was all the Golden Eagles needed as the Seton Hall women's soccer team fell, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.
The Pirates (6-6, 1-3 BIG EAST) were led offensively by freshmen Sophie Liston (Newcastle West, Ireland) and Natalie Tavana (Middletown, Conn.) who each tallied two shots with Tavana's attempt both on target.
Junior Grace Gordon (Chester Springs, Pa.) made five saves between the pipes.
The Hall's best scoring chance of the day came in the 28th minute where Tavana found herself one-on-one with the keeper who made a save with her left foot. Liston followed the miss but her attempt was pushed away and over the top of the goal by the Golden Eagle keeper.
The two sides played an even first 45 minutes but Marquette broke through with 21 minute left to play. Despite a late push, the Pirates couldn't equalize.
