Habib Paces The Hall to Bronze at the Metropolitan Championship

Bronx, N.Y. - Junior Nancy Habib (Clifton, N.J.) of the Seton Hall women's cross country team finished first among her teammates for the fifth straight race, placing third overall at the 2021 Metropolitan Championship and leading the Pirates to a third-place team finish, Friday at Van Cortlandt Park.
The Pirates were only one point off a second-place finish.
Enjoying a very good start to the season, Habib clocked in at 19:38.2, only 18 seconds off the winning time. Not only has she now finished first among her teammates in five straight races, she also has now placed third or better overall in all five meets.
The Pirates had three other racers finish in the top 25 of the 65-runner, 5K meet. Senior Lauren Ginefra (Budd Lake, N.J.) crossed the finish line in 20:34.3 to place 19th. Only five seconds behind her was freshman Taj Lanier (Lincoln University, Pa.), who finished at 20:39.0 for 20th. Freshman Julia Smith (Pittsgrove, N.J.) placed 24th with a time of 20:43.3.Â
Seton Hall will next race on Saturday, Oct. 16, when it heads to Easton, Pa., to participate in the Leopard Invitational.Â
