NEW YORK – The Seton Hall men's soccer team had three Pirates named to All-BIG EAST Teams the conference announced on Monday. Luca Dahn (Kahl, Germany), Johannes Pex (Stephansposching, Germany) and CJ Tibbling (Jarna, Sweden) were all named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team following the 2021 season. The league's head coaches choose the all-conference squads based on the conference season and are not permitted to vote for their own players.
A defender and a team captain, Luca Dahn led the Pirates in minutes played logging 1572 out of a possible 1605 minutes or roughly 98 percent of the Pirates' game action this season. A force on the backline, Dahn played a crucial role in all three Pirates shutouts including two consecutive road blank sheets against DePaul and St. John's in October. Dahn also tallied three times for the Pirates with goals in consecutive games with a win at NC State and a draw with then-No. 13 Virginia Tech. Dahn also scored the game-tying goal in the Pirates' road victory at Butler.
Joining Dahn as a representative of the Pirates defense on the conference's postseason honors list is Johannes Pex. Pex was the Pirates' leader in points on the season with 15 points on five goals and five assists as a right back for The Hall. The junior filled up the scoresheet with five, multi-point games including a four-point outing in the Pirates win over Fordham. Pex tallied twice in that road fixture just over a minute apart.
Pex finished seventh in the BIG EAST in points due in large part to his ability to facilitate offense from the wing position and his success in converting penalty kick for the Pirates. In the Pirates' win over NJIT, Pex picked up three helpers for three points on the way to victory. Pex would have a second-consecutive three-point outing in the Pirates next game at Army where he assisted on the opening goal for The Hall and scored the game-winner in overtime.
The Pirates' leading point-getter during conference play, CJ Tibbling scored a team-high three goals during the BIG EAST slate. Tibbling tallied twice against then-No. 1 Georgetown before also finding the back of the net on the road at Creighton. For Tibbling, it is his third time being honored as part of the conference's postseason All-League teams with a First Team selection in 2020 and a Second Team selection in 2018.
Head Coach Andreas Lindberg has now had 11 Pirates make All-BIG EAST squads in four years at the helm at Seton Hall. The three Pirates honored as part of the BIG EAST's All-Conference Teams is tied for the fourth most representation in the conference. All three Pirate honorees from this season were also selected to All-BIG EAST teams last season, with Dahn and Tibbling as first team members and Pex as a third team selection in 2020.
