Â
Junior Peter Tyler Po (Nasipit Cebu City, Philippines) rounded out the Pirates' scoring with a tie against DePaul's Perry Chong in the No. 6 spot. Po trailed by two holes with two to play, but rallied for the tie with victories on holes 17 and 18.
Â
HUSKIES EDGE HALL, 3-2-1
The Pirates were edged by Connecticut in the afternoon match, 3-2-1. Ramachandran ran his match play record to 2-0 on Monday with a convincing 5 & 4 victory over UConn's Rodrigo Sanchez in the No. 3 spot. The Pirate junior led wire-to-wire, winning the first hole and cruising to the victory in just 13 holes played.
Â
McAuley also won his second match of the day with a sound defeat of UConn's Finn Boynton, 6 & 5. After tying the first two holes, the 2020 graduate won the third and then proceeded to win five of the next six holes.
Â
Hanley went 18 holes with Connecticut's Jimmy Paradise, but the match ended in a tie. Hanley led for much of the afternoon, and led by three holes after 15, but Paradise won the final three holes to force the stalemate in the No. 4 spot.
Â
Acevedo was edged by UConn's Jared Nelson, 1 UP, in the match that pitted the No. 1 golfers from each program. Trailing by one hole through 16, Acevedo tied the match on the second-to-last hole of the day, but was bested by Nelson on 18 for the one-hole loss. Tait fell to UConn's Caleb Manuel, 2 & 1, in the No. 2 spot. After trailing by as many as three holes on the back nine, Tait closed his deficit to just one through 16 holes. Manuel, however, won the 17th hole of the afternoon to close out the match.
Â
Po was defeated by UConn's Tommy Dallahan, 2 & 1, in the No. 6 spot. Po led in the early goings, and then trailed by as many as three holes. His victory on No. 4 cut his deficit to just a single hole, but Dallahan was able to hold on late.
