Perri Lucas Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

NEW YORK – Seton Hall's Perri Lucas (Chicago, Ill.) was named BIG EAST Women's Volleyball Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.

Lucas took the collegiate scene by storm last week, excelling in her first career matches and leading the Pirates to wins in two of three matches. On Tuesday in the Pirates' season-opener, Lucas tied for the team lead with 12 kills to go with 10 digs and three service aces. On Friday against Hofstra, she erupted for a career-high 19 kills to go with six digs and two blocks. Lucas wrapped up her week with another double-double with a match-best 18 kills to go with 11 digs.

For the week, Lucas led the Pirates with 4.08 kills per set and collected two double-double in three contests.

She becomes the first Pirate to receive the weekly honor since teammate Eden Dolezal earned the distinction on Oct. 9, 2018.

Xavier's Carrigan O'Reilly was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while DePaul's Rachel Krasowski earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. Members of the Weekly Honor Roll include Connecticut's Caylee Parker, DePaul's Jill Pressly, Marquette's Hannah Vanden Berg, Providence's Elena Leontaridou and St. John's Rachele Rastelli.

Seton Hall will return to action on Friday, March 5 when it plays the first of two matches in two days against BIG EAST rival Providence. Match time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. ET.
