South Orange, N.J. – Junior CJ Tibbling (Jarna, Sweden) was named to the 2020-21 NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-America First Team as announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Thursday. The honor recognizes individual accomplishments both on the field and in the classroom.
On the pitch, Tibbling led the Pirates with seven goals and 17 points on the season to go along with three assists. With his seven tallies, Tibbling ranked second in the BIG EAST and 20th in the country in goals scored. His three game winning goals for the Pirates, which including the game-winner in the Pirates' BIG EAST Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament victory over Air Force, also led The Hall. For all of his success on the field, Tibbling was named to the All-America Second Team by the United Soccer Coaches earlier this month and was a First Team selection on the All-East Region and All-BIG EAST teams, as well.
In the classroom, the Information Technology Management major and Sweden-native boasts a 3.70 GPA having made the Seton Hall Dean's List each of his five semesters on campus. Tibbling was also Seton Hall's Freshman Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2018 and is a two-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection.
To qualify for the Scholar All-America team, student-athletes must hold at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average or better throughout career and have started more than 50 percent of all games (minimum of seven games) during the season of nomination and be an elite player as supported by playing honors (ie. all-conference) and/or contributions to their team.
