
Tibbling Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team

South Orange, N.J. – Junior forward CJ Tibbling (Jarna, Sweden) was named to the 2020-21 CoSIDA NCAA Division I Academic All-America Second Team the CoSIDA Academic All-America program announced, on Monday. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their
combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Tibbling is the sixth Pirate to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
A leader for The Hall on the field, Tibbling led the Pirates with seven goals and 17 points on the season to go along with three assists. The Sweden-native's seven tallies ranked second in the BIG EAST and 20th in the country in goals scored. Never one to shy away from the big moment, Tibbling delivered in the clutch providing three game-winning goals for the Pirates, which including the game-winner in the Pirates' BIG EAST Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament victory over Air Force.
In the classroom, the Information Technology Management major boasts a 3.70 GPA having made the Seton Hall Dean's List each of his six semesters on campus. Tibbling was also Seton Hall's Freshman Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2018 and is a two-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection.
Tibbling was also named to the All-America Second Team by the United Soccer Coaches and was a First Team selection on the All-East Region and All-BIG EAST teams, as well.
To qualify for the Academic All-America team, nominees must have completed their sophomore year – both academically AND athletically – during the 2020-21 academic year in order to be nominated. Nominees must hold at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average or better throughout career and have started more than 50 percent of all games during the season of nomination and be an elite player as supported by playing honors and/or contributions to their team. Academic All-America honorees must also have first been selected as First-team Academic All-District honorees.
