
Pirates Fall to North Dakota in Four Sets

LOGAN, UTAH – Sophomore Taylor Jakubowski (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) had a rare 20-20 double-double and Perri Lucas (Chicago, Ill.) tallied a team-high 14 kills, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell to North Dakota, 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 18-25, 18-25), on Friday night.

Jakubowski dished out a team-high 20 assists to go with a career-high 20 digs. Lucas had 14 kills to go with four digs and a block.

Senior Emilee Turner (Kaysville, Utah) had another fine game near her hometown. She finished with 11 kills, just one attack error and a .435 attack percentage. Turner also had a career-high eight digs to go with three blocks.

Graduate student Amanda Rachwal (Bethlehem, Pa.) and Madison Frusha (Huntsville, Texas) also had a highly efficient night, combining for 18 kills and just three attack errors. Rachwal had nine kills, two errors and five blocks, while Frusha had a career-high nine kills, one error and two blocks.

SET 1:
The opening set was a close battle featuring six lead changes. A North Dakota attack error gave The Hall its largest lead of the set, 16-12, but the Fighting Hawks responded with a 7-0 run and never trailed again. A kill by Frusha tied the score at 20, but UND scored five of the last six points to claim the first set, 25-21.

SET 2:
The second set featured 12 ties with neither team grabbing a lead greater than three points.  With the score tied at 22, kills by Tsvetelina Ilieva (Sofia, Bulgaria) and Turner put The Hall in set point, 24-22, and an attack error by North Dakota handed set two to the Pirates. The Pirates had a match-high .294 attack percentage in the second set in route to tying the match.

The Pirates trailed for most of the third set, but it didn't get away from them until late. A Fighting Hawks attack error cut Seton Hall's deficit to just one, 15-14, but North Dakota bounced back with an 8-2 run to take a commanding 23-16 advantage. Kills by Lucas and Ilieva kept the Pirates alive, but alas, The Hall dropped set three, 25-18.

In the fourth set, a kill by Frusha tied the score at 10, but North Dakota went on an 11-2 run to take the lead for good. The Pirates dropped the fourth set, 25-18, at the Fighting Hawks registered a match-high .353 attack percentage in the decisive set.

Seton Hall will return to action tomorrow when it wraps up play in Utah with a contest against host Utah State. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m. ET.
