SCOUTING – Delaware (0-1-0, 0-0-0)
- The Blue Hens are coming over a season-opening loss at Rutgers, 2-0 on Thursday.
- Delaware was narrowly outshot by the Scarlet Knights, 13-11, and played the final 37 minutes down a man due to a red card.
- Heading up the Blue Hens in his 16th season as head coach is Pirate great, Ian Hennessy. Hennessy was a standout performer for Seton Hall leading the Pirates to three consecutive BIG EAST Titles from 1986-88. A 2006 induction into the Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Fame, Hennessy ranks second in points (134), goals (52) and fourth in assists (30) amongst the program's all-time leaders.
- The Blue Hens lead the all-time series 8-3-1, winning each of the prior five matchups with the Pirates. Most recently, Delaware defeated Seton Hall 3-1 in 2018 with CJ Tibbling (Jarna, Sweden) picking up the assist on the Pirates' lone goal.
- With the draw to open the season, the Pirates enter Monday's match unbeaten at home in the prior 665 days. The Hall has not dropped a match at Owen T. Carroll Field since dropping the 2019 season finale to Villanova on Nov. 6. The Hall put together a 6-0-1 campaign at Owen T. Carroll Field in 2020 with the lone draw against then-No. 3 Georgetown, 1-1.
- Goalkeeper Andreas Nota (Rome, Italy) picked up his 11th career shutout on Thursday putting him in a tie for fourth place on the program's all-time leaderboard.
- The Pirates were picked second in the BIG EAST Conference Preseason Coaches Poll as the reigning BIG EAST champions were awarded 93 points including three first place votes. Georgetown took the top spot in the poll edging the Pirates by just five points while Creighton, the third team picked, was awarded 74 points.
- CJ Tibbling was selected as the conference's Preseason Co-Offensive Player of the Year and was a unanimous selection for the Preseason All-BIG EAST squad. Tibbling is coming off a 2020 Second Team All-America selection as well as First Team All-BIG EAST honors. On the offensive end, Tibbling led the Pirates with seven goals and 17 points on the season to go along with three assists. With his seven tallies, Tibbling ranked second in the BIG EAST and 20th in the country in goals scored.
- Luca Dahn was honored as the BIG EAST's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot Preseason All-BIG EAST team. Dahn was awarded a 2020 Second Team All-America selection as well as First Team All-BIG EAST honors. In his first year in a Seton Hall uniform, Dahn logged over 1500 minutes for The Hall and was on the pitch for all but nine minutes throughout the campaign. Despite lining up as a center back, Dahn also scored twice for The Hall while registering 12 shots on net, second best on the team.
