
Anna Holland Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

The Pirate libero averaged 6.40 digs per set in three Pirate victories last weekend.
NEW YORK – Seton Hall's Anna Holland (Waukesha, Wis.) was named BIG EAST Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Holland was a defensive stalwart on the Pirate backline in a perfect 3-0 weekend for Seton Hall. The Pirate newcomer recorded at least 18 digs and three assists in all three matches. Holland opened the tournament with a match-high 22 digs to go with four assists in a victory over Fairfield on Friday. In the nightcap, she had 18 digs and four assists vs. Hofstra. Holland closed out the weekend by setting career-highs with 24 digs and five service aces in only three sets against Kent State on Saturday. It's the first time a Pirate had recorded at least five aces in a match since the 2017 season.

For her efforts, Holland was named to the Fairfield Invitational All-Tournament Team. She averaged a team-best 6.40 digs per set for the weekend.

Creighton's Jaela Zimmerman was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while the Bluejays' Norah Sis earned Freshman of the Week honors. Members of the Weekly Honor Roll include Butler's Jaymeson Kinley, DePaul's Rachel Krasowski, Marquette's Savannah Rennie, Providence's Shaliyah Rhoden and St. John's Rachele Rastelli.

Seton Hall will return to action on Tuesday, September 7 when it travels to Marist for a non-conference contest. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
