Curtessia Dean had season-highs of 13 points and nine rebounds in the setback.
OMAHA, NEB. – Junior Curtessia Dean (Monroe, La.) recorded season-highs of 13 points and nine rebounds, but the Seton Hall women's basketball team fell at Creighton, 83-60, on Friday.
Â
Dean had 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the floor, nine rebounds and three assists. Graduate student Katie Armstrong (Collegeville, Pa.) was another Pirate to reach double-figures in scoring. She finished with 10.
Â
Danielle Robinson (Newark, N.J.) had a season-high eight points in a season-most 14 minutes.
Â
The Story:
Park-Lane had a driving layup to tie the game at 10 early in the first quarter, but Creighton responded with a 14-0 run to grab a 24-10 lead with 1:35 to go in the opening frame. The Bluejays took a 26-12 lead into the second quarter. Creighton, the BIG EAST leader in three-pointers made per game, were just 0-for-1 from downtown in the opening quarter, but damaged The Hall inside as 22 of the Bluejays' 26 points were scored in the paint.
Â
Down 14 points, the Pirates went on a 12-4 run, and a layup by Cooks with 6:53 left in the first half cut The Hall's deficit to just six points, 30-24. Creighton, however, held the Pirates to just one made field goal over the final 4:12 of the half and their lead ballooned to 49-34 at the break. The Bluejays shot 64.7% from the field in the opening half.
Â
Creighton opened the third quarter with a 16-3 run, which all but dispatched any hopes for a Pirate comeback. The Bluejays were 4-for-6 from three-point range in the first 4:00 of the second half to build a commanding 65-37 advantage.
