- The Seton Hall men's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of historic Walsh Gymnasium for its first BIG EAST contest on campus in 37 years as the Pirates host Metropolitan area foe St. John's on Monday at 9 p.m.
- Former Seton Hall head coach Bill Raftery, who led the Pirates from 1970-81 and coached a majority of his games inside Walsh Gym, will be on the call with Dave Sims on FS1.
- The Pirates are coming off of a 66-60 win over St. John's at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, snapping a two-game losing skid.
- Seton Hall owns a +38 rebounding margin (107-69) over its last two games and it pulled its most rebounds in a game (60) since 2001 against the Red Storm.
- The win marked the ninth time this season that The Hall held its opponent to 65 points or less.
- The Pirates are 425-142 all-time inside Walsh Gym and have won 26 straight regular season games dating back to 1989.
- The last BIG EAST contest inside Walsh Gym was an 85-80 win over Connecticut on March 2, 1985.
- Seton Hall played BIG EAST games at Walsh from the league's inaugural season in 1979 to 1985 before moving all league games to Meadowlands Arena beginning in 1985-86.
- Seton Hall's four losses in conference play have come by a combined 16 points and its average margin of defeat is four points.
- Two of those defeats came without two critical interior pieces (7-2 graduate student Ike Obiagu and 6-10 junior Tyrese Samuel) against two ranked BIG EAST opponents.
- Seton Hall is 4-5 this season against Q1 and Q2 competition.
- This is the first season in program history where the Pirates defeated two top 10 non-conference opponents in the regular season.
- The Hall is one of only five programs in the country with multiple wins over top 10 teams this season (Baylor, Duke, Gonzaga, Oregon).
- The Pirates are the only team in college basketball that secured a true top five road win in the non-conference (at No. 4 Michigan, 67-65).
- The Pirates lead the BIG EAST in three-point FG percentage defense (30.1 percent) and 31st nationally in field goal percentage defense (39.6).
- Seton Hall is ranked in the top 60 in KenPom in both adjusted offensive efficiency (52nd) and adjusted defensive efficiency (29th).
- KenPom also currently has Seton Hall's schedule as the ninth toughest in the country.
- Seton Hall is currently 30th in the NET and 27th in KenPom.
- The Pirates are 106-18 (.855) since 2016-17 when they attempt more free throws than their opponent.
- This season, Seton Hall ranks ninth in Division I in free throws made (296) and 34th in free throw attempts (382).
- The Hall is 124-18 (.873) since 2015-16 when its lead gets to seven points.
- Under Kevin Willard, the Pirates are 88-10 (.898) when they score 80 points or more.
- Ike Obiagu has registered a block in 26 consecutive games going back to last season, the longest active streak in the country, and is averaging 6.3 blocks and 10.7 rebounds over the last three games.
- With seven blocks at St. John's (Jan. 22), Obiagu is is three blocks away from tying Samuel Dalembert's program record of 167 career blocked shots.
- Graduate student Bryce Aiken (Randolph, N.J.) has been a force in closing out games this season with 72 total points in the final five minutes of regulation and overtime through 15 games played (4.8 ppg).
- Graduate student Alexis Yetna (Paris, France) is averaging a double-double in BIG EAST play with 12.0 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
