LAST GAMEÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
The Pirates fell victim to a 9-0 run early in the first quarter and never recovered, falling to No. 9 Connecticut, 71-38, in Gampel Pavilion on Friday.
Â
Despite trailing, The Hall fought hard to hold their deficit to just 16 at the half, but the Husky defense proved formidable in the third quarter, and UConn pulled away further. Connecticut held the Pirates to just 26.4% shooting for the game and out-rebounded the Pirates, 53-to-25.
Â
Senior Sidney Cooks (Kenosha, Wis.) led The Hall with 10 points. Junior Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) finished with five points, four assists and matched her career-high with six rebounds.

Earlier this Season: Seton Hall 69, Marquette 57 (F) – December 19, 2021
Â
EARLIER THIS YEAR AGAINST MARQUETTE
Junior Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) erupted for a season-high 25 points to go with eight assists and the Seton Hall women's basketball team surprised Marquette, 69-57, in Walsh Gym on Sunday.
Â
The Pirates, playing with only eight available players and two coaches due to COVID-19 protocols, used a thrilling 16-0 run in the fourth quarter to stun the Golden Eagles late. The victory is the Pirates' first in conference play, while Marquette suffers its first BIG EAST loss and has a four-game win streak snapped.
Â
Park-Lane erupted for a season-high 25 points on the strength of 6-for-8 shooting from three-point range. She also dished out eight assists and grabbed four rebounds. Her six made trifectas are a career-high.
Â
Andra Espinoza-Hunter (Ossining, N.Y.) played all 40 minutes and scored 16 points with seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Senior Sidney Cooks had 12 points and six rebounds.
Â
SCOUTING MARQUETTE
The Golden Eagles are coming off a successful 19-7 campaign during the abbreviated 2020-21 season. They fell in the title game of the BIG EAST Championship to UConn, but earned an at large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Marquette dropped its first-round game, 70-63, to Virginia Tech.
Â
This year, Marquette is predicted to finish fourth, right behind the Pirates, in the 11-team BIG EAST Conference, according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll. Lauren Van Kleunen was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.Â
Â
Marquette enters its contest with Seton Hall with a 13-5 overall record and a 6-3 mark in conference play. The Golden Eagles have won four of their last five games, including a pair of road contests last week at Xavier and Butler. Marquette is currently the top defensive team in the league, allowing a BIG EAST low 54.7 points per game.
Â
