Seton Hall is tied for fourth with DePaul behind UConn, Creighton and Villanova.
NEW YORK – The Seton Hall women's basketball team is predicted to finish in a tie for fourth in the 11-team BIG EAST Conference according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Tuesday.
Â
Seton Hall's 68 points is tied with DePaul. Connecticut, a perennial national title contender, was the unanimous choice to repeat as BIG EAST champions. Creighton has been picked to finish second with 89 points, while Villanova is third at 83.Â
Â
In nine years under Head Coach Anthony Bozzella, the Pirates have either met or exceeded preseason expectations six times. In 2015, The Hall claimed the regular season title. Last year, the Pirates won 16 of their final 19 games and made a thrilling run to the BIG EAST Tournament semifinals. Their remarkable postseason run continued with five victories in the WNIT and ended on April 2 in the WNIT National Championship game.
Â
The Pirates are primed for another big season in 2022-23. National leader in assists and Division I All-Met Player of the Year Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) returns as does All-BIG EAST center Sidney Cooks (Kenosha, Wis.). Big shot Mya Bembry (West Orange, N.J.) is back in addition to key reserves Kailah Harris (Ossining, N.Y.), Victoria Keenan (Bethlehem, Pa.) and Amari Wright (Jacksonville, Fla.). The Hall also welcomed in six impact transfers and a talented true freshman to bolster the roster.
