
Pirates Fall in BIG EAST Semifinals to Creighton

Boyds, Md. – The Pirates fell in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championships to Creighton on Thursday at Maryland Soccerplex by a score of 6-0.
How it Happened
The Pirates had a solid start to the afternoon, generating a good chance in the seventh minute. After a corner kick swung in by Johannes Pex (Stephansposching, Germany), the ball found the foot of Mattias Almeida Sundell (Sweden) who fired a shot from the edge of the six-yard box. However, a Creighton defender was able to get in the way of the shot to keep the Pirates off the board.
Creighton's first goal came on a penalty kick in the 35th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Pirates were able to lock down defensively to trail by that score entering halftime. However, the Bluejays kept the offense going in the second half, scoring five times. Creighton's Duncan McGuire had four goals on the night.

The Pirates will wait to see if they will receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Selection Show will take place on Monday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. on NCAA.com.

- Dahn and Pex each played the full 90 minutes on the back line for the Pirates. Dahn did so for the 11th consecutive match, while Pex played full-time in his ninth straight match.
- Dahn has now played full-time in 46 of his 49 career matches.
- James Boote (Southampton, England) had three shots on the night to lead the Pirates.
