The Hall wins its fourth straight game after a stout defensive effort in Washington.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team held Georgetown to under 30.0% shooting from the floor in the second half in route to a 60-50 victory in Washington on Wednesday for its fourth straight win.

Down by three, the Pirates closed the third quarter with a 14-3 run and never trailed again. The victory gets them back to .500 (7-7) in BIG EAST Conference play.

Senior Sidney Cooks (Kenosha, Wis.) and junior Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) had 14 points apiece to lead The Hall. Andra Espinoza-Hunter (Ossining, N.Y.) had 13 points, while Mya Bembry (West Orange, N.J.) tallied six points and a team-best 10 rebounds.

The Story:
Both teams brought a high defensive intensity to start the game as the first points in the contest weren't scored until 4:03 in. Seton Hall started 0-for-10 from the floor until Espinoza-Hunter hit a mid-range jumper with 3:42 left in the first quarter to get the Pirates on the scoreboard. For the quarter, the Pirates were 2-for-14, but trailed only 10-7 after 10 minutes.

The shooting didn't improve much in the second quarter, but the Prates remained close. Trailing 22-16, Mya Jackson (Wilmington, Ohio) scored off a turnover, and Cooks had a pair of free-throws to send the Pirates into the break down only two. The Hall trailed 22-20 despite shooting only 24% from the floor in the first half.

Down 32-29 with 5:38 left in the third quarter, Seton Hall went on a game-changing 14-3 run to close out the quarter. Fueled by seven points from Espinoza-Hunter and five from Curtessia Dean (Monroe, La.), the Pirates went into the fourth leading 43-35.

In the fourth quarter, Georgetown was able to cut their deficit to four points on four occasions, but each time The Hall was able to stave them off. Up 48-44 with only 3:31 left to play, the Pirates put the game out of reach with a 9-1 run, which included seven points from Park-Lane.

Inside the Numbers:

Seton Hall was 21-for-62 (33.9%) from the floor for the game, while Georgetown was 18-for-57 (31.6%). The Hall was 3-for-13 (23.1%) from three-point range, while the Hoyas were 2-for-18 (11.1%).
Cooks finished with 14 points to go with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Georgetown out-rebounded The Hall, 45-to-39, which included a 14-to-11 advantage on the offensive glass.
Park-Lane had 14 points, five assists and four steals.
Seton Hall was 15-for-19 (78.9%) from the free-throw line, while Georgetown was 12-for-19 (63.2%).
Espinoza-Hunter had 13 points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Seton Hall forced 22 turnovers, while Georgetown forced 13.
Bembry finished with six points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
