The Hall will face local rival Fairleigh Dickinson in Walsh Gym at 7:00 p.m. in round one.
FORT COLLINS, COLO. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2022 Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). The Pirates will host Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round of the event on Thursday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m. in Walsh Gymnasium.
Â
Should Seton Hall advance past the Knights, the Pirates will face the winner of the game between Stony Brook and VCU in round two.
Â
This will be the seventh time that Seton Hall has participated in the WNIT, and the first since 2019. The Hall has now played in the postseason during six of nine seasons with Anthony Bozzella at the helm. Of the three seasons they didn't compete in postseason play, the 2020 postseason was canceled and the Pirates declined a WNIT invitation in 2021, both due to COVID concerns.
Â
Tickets are available by visiting the Seton Hall ticket office or by calling 973-275-4255. Â Ticket prices for the first two rounds are just $10 per seat, and active Seton Hall students can get a FREE ticket by showing their ID at the ticket office window.
Â
Seton Hall enters the WNIT as one of the hottest teams in the nation having won 11 of its last 13 games. The Pirates' impressive season features 19 victories including wins over 2022 postseason teams Creighton, DePaul, Marquette, Mount St. Mary's, Princeton, Toledo and Villanova.  The Pirates bring three of the BIG EAST's top-7 scorers Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.), Andra Espinoza-Hunter (Ossining, N.Y.) and Sidney Cooks (Kenosha, Wis.), all of which were named All-BIG EAST performers.
Â
The 2022 Postseason Women's National Invitation Tournament will feature 64 teams in a single-elimination championship format. The tournament is in its 23rd year. The WNIT began in 1998 with 16 teams playing for a post-season crown. The event has expanded four times, throughout which its mission has remained the same: To give deserving teams a quality opportunity to play exciting games for a post-season title.
