LAST GAME
The Pirates got 20-point games from both Sidney Cooks (Kenosha, Wis.) and Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.), but fell at No. 15 Villanova, 99-65, on Saturday.
Â
The Pirates had a hard time finding an answer for the nation's leading scorer, Villanova's Maddy Siegrist. The reigning BIG EAST Player of the Year set a new BIG EAST single-game record with 50 points, including eight points in a game-changing 19-3 Villanova run late in the second quarter.
Â
Cooks finished with a team-high 21 points on the strength of 4-for-7 shooting from three-point range. Park-Lane had 20 points to go with six assists, five rebounds, two steals and only one turnover.

LAST YEAR AGAINST DE PAUL
DePaul has dominated the all-time series against the Pirates, winning 23 of the prior 29 meetings. Seton Hall and DePaul split a pair a pair of contests last year with each team winning on the road.Â
Â
On Jan. 30 in Walsh Gym, Sidney Cooks erupted for a career-high 32 points to go with 10 rebounds and seven blocks, but The Hall fell to DePaul, 85-65. Cooks was brilliant, connecting on her first nine shots, and collecting her season-high before halftime. She finished 15-for-22 from the floor. Seton Hall trailed by only four with 2:31 left in the third, but DePaul, the nation's top scoring team, scored the last seven points of the quarter, and pulled away in the fourth by out-scoring the Pirates, 20-to-11.
Â
The Hall got its revenge in Chicago, however, on Feb. 25. Park-Lane scored 31 points, including the 1,000th of her career, and Cooks added 25 more to fuel the Pirates to a dramatic 94-90 road victory. Park-Lane scored 17 of her game-high 31 points in the third quarter as the Pirates claimed a lead they never relinquished in the fourth.
Â
SCOUTING DE PAUL
DePaul is coming off a stellar 2021-22 campaign that saw a 22-11 final record and an impressive 14-6 mark in BIG EAST play. The Blue Demons were upset in the BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinals by Marquette and in the NCAA Tournament with a first-round loss to 11-seeded Dayton.
Â
This year, the Blue Demons were picked to finish tied for fourth, with the Pirates, in the BIG EAST Preseason coaches' poll. DePaul lost three starters to graduation, but return All-America forward Aneesah Morrow and top guard Darrione Rogers. Morrow was a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.
Â
The Blue Demons enter Saturday's contest with a 13-12 mark overall and a 6-8 record in BIG EAST play. DePaul has dropped eight of its last 11 games, including most recently, a 77-61 loss at St. John's on Saturday. Despite the team's recent woes, Morrow has been one of the top players in the country. She currently ranks fourth in the country with 25.4 points per game and eighth in rebounding with 11.5 per contest. DePaul's 76.6 points per game rank second-best in the BIG EAST, but their 71.2 points allowed ranks worst.
Â
UP NEXT
Seton Hall will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 15, when it faces DePaul for the second time in three days, this time in Chicago. Tip time is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET.  The contest will be streamed live by the BIG EAST Digital Network and available for FloHoops subscribers. Ryan Henry and Louis Paculli will describe the action for WSOU FM.
