Busetto Leads Hall After Round One at Low Country

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Ludovica Busetto (Padova, Italy) shot a 3-over-par to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team to a fourth-place standing after 18 holes at the Low Country Intercollegiate on Friday.

Busetto was able to overcome 25-mile per hour winds to shoot a 3-over-par, 75, and is currently in third place among 105 individual golfers. Elon's Annabelle Ackroyd and UNC Ashville Madyson Gold are tied for the individual lead at 1-over-par.

As a team, The Hall is tied for fourth with Quinnipiac after a 29-over-par, 317. UNC Asheville is the team leader at 23-over-par after 18 holes.

Both Ginevra Zavagli (Rome, Italy) and Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain) each shot a 7-over-par, 79, and are tied for 13^th over par.

Graduate student Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.) shot a 12-over-par, 84, and is tied for 65^th after the first round.

Freshman Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) had a 21-over-par, 93, in round one.

Competing as an individual, freshman Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) shot a 16-over-par,
88, to begin the tournament.

THE COURSE:
Golf at Moss Creek Golf Club is a testament to the early greatness of Tom Fazio, who designed the entire Devils Elbow complex—both the South and North 18-hole courses. Each is lined with magnificent oak trees and tall airy pines, giving way to scented salt marshes. The layouts at Moss Creek Golf Club can be best described as Lowcountry golf landscape accented by large ponds and water tributaries with tidal salt marshes at the edges. Golfers pause to spot alligators sunning on the banks, egrets and circling hawks or eagles, even a family of wild turkeys moving silently by.

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Wofford, the field includes 17 other schools: Appalachian State, Citadel, Columbia, Elon, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville Longwood, Presbyterian, Quinnipiac, Richmond, Samford, UNC Greensboro, UNC Asheville, USC Upstate, USC Beaufort, Western Michigan and Winthrop.

THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

THE SCHEDULE:
The teams will play 18 holes on three consecutive days. All three rounds will begin with tee times starting off hole No. 1 at 8:32 a.m. and off hole No. 10 at 8:52 a.m.
